The inaugural International Network on Timber Engineering Research (INTER) meeting was held at University of Bath from 31st August to 4th September 2014. Around 70 leading timber researchers from around the world participated at the event. Twenty one technical papers and a number of technical notes were presented and discussed over three days of technical presentations, at the end of which a compendium of research papers was published as the proceedings of the 47th meeting for this research group.

Six of these papers were selected for this first TRADA Research Summary based on this event. Readers are invited to visit the CIB home page (http://cib-w18.com) and browse through the titles of all the papers presented so far.
