Timber for landscape architecture

TRADA image

There can be many advantages in using timber in landscape design, both for its physical properties and visual appearance in that it harmonises naturally with the landscape. Timber has good properties of strength, resilience and durability.

This Wood Information Sheet (WIS) gives guidance to specifiers and users of timber in the area broadly described as landscape architecture - that is wood used outdoors - but excludes loose furniture, habitable buildings and playground equipment all of which are covered in the TRADA WIS 0-13Timber in playground equipment. It provides the designer and specifier with a working knowledge of the factors which must be considered when using wood out-of-doors.
