TRADA Technology's senior consultant architect Patrick Hislop RIBA discusses the balance between appearance and function of high performance wood windows.

As well achieving satisfactory appearance, a window must also meet the functional requirements of weather resistance, insulation, strength, safety, security, durability and economy. The detail design of the window profiles, components and accessories influences the appearance and overall performance of the complete window. It is important to ensure both satisfactory visual and functional performance.
